 IMPROVEMENTS TO TOWN CENTRE ENCOURAGED

The appearance of the town centre is being examined by the Ormskirk Town Centre Management Group to see what improvements can be made to help complement the work which has already been done to Moor Street to help make the town centre be even more attractive and encourage shoppers and visitors.

Andrew Youds of NSW Properties says, “Whilst a lot of our buyers and tenants now utilise online portals such as Rightmove and Onthemarket, we do still have a high proportion of people who prefer the more traditional methods of looking in the shop window and the personal touch of a face to face chat in our office. We would therefore positively encourage any move to increase footfall to the town centre would and we would gladly lend our assistance to any such efforts.”

Members of the new Ormskirk Town Centre Management Group include West Lancashire Borough Council, Ormskirk Community Partnership, Love Ormskirk, Business in the Community, Edge Hill University and Edge Hill Students’ Union.

David Wilkinson, Ormskirk Town Centre Management Group member said: “Having an even more attractive town centre will help bring additional people into Ormskirk as they will be able to see and feel that it is a really attractive place to visit. This will also help sustain businesses operating in the town centre.”
